Porto Colom is a port city on the east coast of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca. The village has 4586 inhabitants (as of 2011). Porto Colom belongs to the municipality of Felanitx. Portocolom has the largest natural harbor of Majorca, which is indeed now used largely for private boat traffic, but still represents one of the most important fishing ports on the island. The city is divided into an Old Town area around the port, which is regarded by many as one of the best preserved old towns in Mallorca, and in a touristy urbanization in the south around the bay of Cala Marcal. Porto Colom claims to be the birthplace of the navigator Christopher Columbus. In particular, the name of the village reflects again the name of the discoverer.
