New cafés and restaurants between old houses, strollers, joggers and cyclists on the wide sea promenade, fishing boats and a small beach: Portitxol is one of the trendy neighborhoods in Palma de Mallorca. It is located between the city beach Can Pere Antoni and the neighborhoods Molinar and Ciutat Jardí. The former fishermen's quarter attracts numerous walkers and recreational athletes, not only on weekends. Many foreigners have fulfilled their dream of a house by the sea here. The neighborhood is right next to the publishing building of the Spanish daily newspaper Diario de Mallorca and its German sister, the Mallorca Zeitung. The editorial staff on the fourth floor have a nice view of Portitxol, as the livecam installed there shows. Most of the time, however, they are out and about all over the island looking for exciting Mallorca stories or sitting in front of their computers working on the print edition, which is published every week on Thursday and contains more than 70 pages, as well as the always up-to-date online edition.
